Los mejillones son formados por dos valvas completamente id\u00e9nticas, de forma alargada, de color negro-azul en el exterior y de color n\u00e1car en el interior, unidas fuertemente por un ligamento el\u00e1stico de 6 a 8 cm, dentro de las que se encuentra el tejido blando. Viven en grupos en las rocas submarinas, en columnas o cuelgan unidas por unas hilas finas, extra\u00eddas por una de sus gl\u00e1ndulas interiores.<\/p>

Los mejillones crecen en muchos lugares de nuestra costa, como el mar de Novigrad, canal de \u0160ibenik, canal de Maloston, bah\u00eda de Pula y canal Limski. Los mejillones tambi\u00e9n se cr\u00edan en explotaciones de marisco y su cr\u00eda toma tres a\u00f1os y medio. Comen pl\u00e1nctones. Se colectan desde el octubre hasta el mayo.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Valor energ\u00e9tico y de nutrientes<\/strong><\/p>

El valor energ\u00e9tico de 100 g de mejillones frescos es de 66 kcal\/276 kJ. Contiene 12,1% de prote\u00ednas, 1,9% de grasas y 2% de hidratos de carbono. Los mejillones son una fuente importante de minerales, de hierro (3,95 mg, que corresponde a 28% de IDR), f\u00f3sforo (197 mg, que corresponde a 24% de IDR) y selenio (44,8 \u03bcg, que corresponde a 82% de IDR). Son ricos en calcio, en yodo, en potasio y en sodio.<\/p>

En cuanto a vitaminas, contienen vitamina A, \u00e1cido f\u00f3lico y vitamina C. Son una fuente excelente de cianocobalamina (B-12) – hasta 12 \u03bcg, que es cinco veces m\u00e1s de la ingesta diaria recomendada. Los mejillones son tambi\u00e9n una fuente de otras vitaminas del complejo B. Tiene 0,16 mg de tiamina (B1), que corresponde a 13% de la ingesta diaria recomendada, 0,21mg de riboflavina (B2), que corresponde a 16% de la ingesta diaria recomendada, y 1,6 mg de niacina (B3), que corresponde a 16% de iDR.<\/p>
